# Resources and recovery

Your player bar tells you what you can do next. HP, energy, and labor serve different purposes; running low on one does not mean you are out of everything.

## Read your player bar

| Resource | What it tells you |
| --- | --- |
| HP | Your current health. Check it before dangerous activities. |
| Energy | A resource used by adventuring activities, including combat, missions, and training. |
| Labor | A resource used for fishing, searching for Brawl opponents, and City Guard duty. |
| XP | Progress toward your next character level. |
| Gold | The everyday currency for services, equipment, and trading. |
| Gems | A separate currency used for selected purchases and features. |

Costs differ by activity. Read the action's displayed requirements before committing. The player bar shows regeneration information so you can plan around recovery instead of guessing.

## Recovery and the Temple

Death and exhaustion can send you to the Temple and temporarily block activities. Follow the Temple's recovery status and countdown to learn when you can continue.

**Leaving the Temple does not instantly restore full HP.** Check your health afterward and allow regeneration or use an appropriate recovery item before heading into another dangerous encounter.

A Revival Potion can let another player help a recovering adventurer when the game's requirements are met. Revival permissions and recent-revival restrictions can affect whether this is available.

## Rest at the Tavern

Tavern rooms let you spend vouchers to recover Labor. Check the daily limit and the room’s offer before renting. Tavern rest and Temple recovery serve different purposes.

## Consumables and temporary effects

Read each item's description before using it. Recovery items, buffs, and other consumables have different purposes and restrictions; some actions may be unavailable while you are incapacitated.

Temporary effects can change your capabilities. If something behaves differently from your previous session, check your active effects, gear, and activity status first.

## When an action is unavailable

Check your current city, HP, resources, required items, and any active mission or journey. The restriction shown by the game is the best guide to what needs to change.
